Understand hourly, daily and overnight prices, plus skipper fees, fuel, cleaning, catering, bonds and other charter costs. Use the published fleet as a starting point, then get current details directly from the operator.
Compare the price basis first
An hourly rate, a day package and a nightly bareboat rate describe different products. Record the start and finish time, number of nights, vessel and crew arrangement before comparing the headline figures.
Convert each offer into the total cost for the same trip. A higher published rate can still be the better value when it covers more time or includes crew, fuel or equipment.

List inclusions and additional charges
Ask whether skipper fees, fuel, cleaning, linen, equipment, catering, marina charges and taxes are included. Put every likely extra beside the base figure rather than leaving it in separate messages.
For a bareboat charter, ask how the bond is authorised, when it is released and what may be deducted. A bond is not automatically part of the trip cost, but it affects the funds you need available.
Check payment and change terms
Confirm the deposit, final payment date and payment method. Read the operator's cancellation, rescheduling and weather clauses before paying.
Save the quote version and vessel name. A later conversation about a different boat or itinerary can otherwise make the original price difficult to interpret.
