THE PEOPLE BEHIND THE QUESTIONS

We are learning our way towards a life afloat.

Charter Catamaran was built by Gabriel and Kristy as a practical companion for comparing boats, understanding coastlines and arriving at an operator with better questions.

WHY WE BUILT THIS

A sailing site shaped by a real plan.

We are Gabriel and Kristy, the couple behind Charter Catamaran and YouSail. Our plan is simple to say and much harder to organise: buy a sailing yacht, move aboard and travel around Australia, then into the Pacific.

We are not pretending to have all the answers. We are still taking courses, spending time on boats and learning how different choices change the experience. That uncertainty became the point of this site. Instead of presenting a wall of boats, Charter Catamaran helps readers move from an idea to a considered shortlist.

THE CHARTER CATAMARAN APPROACH

Start with the trip, then choose the boat.

A group size is not the same as a comfortable sleeping plan. A regional label is not an exact departure point. A published starting price is not a final trip total. We built the site around those distinctions.

  1. 01
Shape the tripWho is travelling, how long do you have and how much experience is in the group?
  2. 02
Read the coastCompare access, likely charter styles and the official sources that matter for the region.
  3. 03
Compare published boatsUse the same fields side by side, then note what remains unknown.
  4. 04
Ask the operatorConfirm availability, total price, route, equipment, capacity and booking terms directly.

ABOUT GABRIEL MACHURET

I build useful websites around the life I want to live.

My professional background is marketing. For more than a decade I have worked in SEO and app store optimisation, including the early years when ASO was only beginning to be treated as a discipline of its own.

In 2013 I launched one of the first ASO courses on Udemy and later wrote ASO Bible and ASO Ninja. More than 10,000 students have joined my courses. Through my agency work I helped more than 500 developers and app companies improve how they were found, worked with brands including Red Bull, Disney, EA Games, FreshBooks, PBS and Xerox, and spoke at conferences in London, Singapore, China and Thailand.

I bought the ASO company Appmind, which was later acquired by Mobile Action, and stayed on as a consultant and ambassador. I also wrote Zero Excuses, about making a beautiful life, and The Lazy Bastard, a productivity guide for people who procrastinate.

The thread through all of it is simple: I enjoy taking information that feels difficult or scattered and turning it into something people can use. I did that with diving websites when I worked as a diving instructor. Now, as Kristy and I work towards a yacht and a life aboard, I am doing it with sailing.

Moving onto a yacht is me running out of excuses.
FACTS

Source before assumption

Boat details come from the published YouSail catalogue. Missing facts remain missing rather than being invented.

CONTEXT

Questions before certainty

Our editorial work helps people ask more useful questions. Advice can still be wrong for a particular boat, date or crew.

DECISIONS

Operators give the final answer

Availability, pricing, safety requirements, routes and terms belong in a direct conversation with the charter operator.
